SO Sex Offender Registrar

Effective 10/1/2026 Reporting directly to a Sheriff’s Office Sergeant, responsible for maintaining, registering, and updating records for sex offenders residing in Williamson County. Registers convicted sex offenders that resides within Williamson County according to DPS guidelines Collects fingerprints, photos, and other information necessary for registration and creates reports for federal, state, and local use Conducts research for non-compliant offenders and coordinates with law enforcement to issue warrants Schedules quarterly and annual appointments with offenders to conduct routine check-ins essential for record updates and compliance Serves as county liaison for law enforcement, agencies, parole, and probation offices and community regarding sex offender registrants Provides reports for de-registering offenders Collaborates and assist the Public Information Officer with release of information to the media and community Provides information to District Attorney’s and County Attorney’s as needed Attends court proceedings to testify as needed Reviews jail documents and court dockets to identify offender cases for follow up Performs data entry to maintain up to date records Monitors offenders Attends all meetings and successfully completes trainings, as required Coordinates and maintains a database of Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) reports, including Child Protective Services (CPS) and Adult Protective Services (APS) reports Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, repetitive motions, and standing Position involves occasional lifting and carrying of up to fifty (50) pounds and exertion of up to twenty-five (25) pounds of force to move objects

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment Continuous contact with persons accused or adjudicated of sex crimes May be required to perform work outdoors in inclement weather (heat, cold, wet, conditions) Some travel between work sites as required

IRREGULAR HOURS

Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required May be deemed as essential personnel in the event of an emergency The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job. High school diploma or equivalent Two (2) years of experience working in a law enforcement capacity Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required within thirty (30) days of employment Valid Texas driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree in criminal justice or related field Two (2) years of experience working as a sex offender registrar Three (3) years of experience working with a medium to large law enforcement agency
