Machine Shop Manager

Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Health insurance Paid time off About the Role: Stony MFG is looking for an experienced and driven Machine Shop Manager to lead our manufacturing operations in Elma, NY. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a dynamic shop floor environment, guiding a skilled team while ensuring precision, efficiency, and quality at every stage of production. Responsibilities: Oversee daily machine shop operations, including scheduling, workflow management, and production planning Supervise, mentor, and develop machinists and shop floor personnel to maximize team performance Ensure all machining processes meet quality standards, tolerances, and customer specifications Monitor and maintain CNC machines, manual lathes, mills, and other shop equipment Coordinate with engineering, purchasing, and leadership teams to meet production deadlines Enforce safety protocols and maintain a clean, compliant, and organized shop environment Manage tooling inventory, raw materials, and equipment maintenance schedules Requirements: 5+ years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role Proficiency with CNC programming, setup, and operation (Fanuc, Mazak, or similar controls preferred) Strong knowledge of machining processes including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications Experience with quality control processes and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM) Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse shop team Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset About Us: Stony MFG is a proud Western New York manufacturer based in Elma, NY, committed to delivering high-quality machined components with precision and reliability.
