Job Title: Forklift Operator

Job Description

This role involves operating a sit-down propane forklift in an outdoor lumber yard environment, handling long and heavy building materials, and preparing loads for shipment in all weather conditions. You will spend most of your day working outside, moving and organizing materials such as wood flooring, wood decking, and PVC trimming, while following pick sheets to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.

Multiple shifts are available:

• Monday–Friday 5:00 am–1:30 pm

• Monday–Friday 8:30 am–5:00 pm

• Monday–Friday 3:00 pm–11:30 pm

• Monday–Thursday 8:00 pm–4:30 am with Friday 6:00 pm–4:30 am

Responsibilities

• Operate a sit-down propane forklift safely and efficiently throughout the shift.

• Work outdoors in a lumber yard environment in all weather conditions, including hot summers, cold winters, rain, and snow.

• Follow pick sheets to identify, locate, and pick the correct materials for each order.

• Handle and move materials such as wood flooring, wood decking up to 20 feet long, and PVC trimming.

• Load and secure materials onto flatbed trucks, ensuring loads are accurate, stable, and ready for transport.

• Perform general material handling and general labor tasks as needed in the yard and warehouse.

• Shovel and plow the yard during winter conditions to maintain safe access and working areas.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the yard and around the warehouse.

• Communicate effectively with team members and drivers to coordinate loading and material flow.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines related to forklift operation and material handling.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.90 - $20.90/hr.
