Title: Material Handler / Forklift Operator

Location: North Canaan, CT 06018

Pay: $23.00/hour

Schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM Alternating shift, Onsite

Position Type: W2 Temp-to-hire, high potential for extension and conversion to a full-time employee based on business needs

Job Overview

Join a global medical technology manufacturer that develops and produces medical devices, laboratory equipment, and diagnostic products used by healthcare providers around the world. This Material Handler / Forklift Operator role supports warehouse and shipping operations by moving materials and finished goods throughout the facility and preparing outbound shipments. In-person interviews are required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Load outbound trailers using a forklift.
• Move trailers in and out of the shipping dock.
• Transport materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products throughout the warehouse and plant.
• Operate forklifts, floor stretch wrappers, and other material handling equipment.
• Follow standard operating procedures and quality guidelines while completing assigned work.
• Maintain basic records and documentation as needed.
• Support shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
• Use basic computer systems to support daily warehouse activities.
• Complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
• Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 0-1 year of warehouse, material handling, shipping, receiving, or related experience preferred.
• Previous forklift experience is preferred.
• Experience moving semi-trailers or operating yard trucks is a plus but is not required.
• Willingness to be trained on forklifts and other required equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to read, write, and understand documents written in English.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Comfortable working in a metrics-driven environment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any required training or certifications.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, and climbing.
• Frequent use of hands for handling materials and operating equipment.
• Ability to lift and move more than 20 pounds.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of a warehouse environment.
