Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated nursing professionals to join our Progressive Care Unit. This unit specializes in delivering high-quality, individualized care to patients requiring intermediate care for various medical conditions.

Shift Details

Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Locations: Chattanooga, TN

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 29
• Patient Ratios: 4:1
• Unit Staffing: Dayshift unit secretary and 2-3 Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) depending on census; Nightshift with 2-3 PCTs as needed.

Equipment & Documentation

• Welch Allyn dynamaps
• Philips telemetry and MP2 monitors
• Pyxis medication dispensing system
• Alaris infusion pumps
• Hill-Rom beds
• iMobile devices

Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling Requirements

• 3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
• Self-scheduling available, within reason, to ensure balanced staffing
• Requests for days off can be made prior to schedule closing
• Schedules finalized 2 weeks in advance
• Block scheduling for night shift may be accommodated

Patient Care Requirements

The unit primarily serves a cardiac patient population, including post-operative patients from the Intensive Care Unit. Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting Q6H head-to-toe assessments and documenting accordingly
• Administering various intravenous medications including Dopamine, Heparin, and Amiodarone
• Monitoring critical patient conditions such as heart failure and myocardial infarction

Required Skills and Certifications

• BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory
• Experience in cardiac/telemetry care, PCU, and/or critical care is essential
• Advanced skills in IV insertion, tracheostomy, CVC management, and EKG interpretation
