Assistant Director, Finance and Grants Center on Aging, Trauma, and Holocaust Survivor Care Department : Public Affairs - Washington, DC Office Reports to : Advisor, Financial Oversight, Center on Aging, Trauma, and Holocaust Survivor Care Organization Overview The Jewish Federations of North America (“JFNA”) consist of 141 Jewish Federations and dozens of Network communities that collectively raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually to support flourishing Jewish life and the needs of the Jewish people in their home communities and around the world. The Jewish Federations system, among the top 10 charities on the continent, leads the largest network of volunteer and professional leaders who build and sustain Jewish communities that are healthy, safe, caring, welcoming and inclusive, educated and engaged, involved in the broader community, and deeply connected to Israel and the global Jewish people. The Center on Aging, Trauma, and Holocaust Survivor Care (Center), housed within JFNA, is a leading voice in the U.S. on person-centered, trauma informed (PCTI) care and support services for Holocaust survivors, older adults with a history of trauma, and their family caregivers. The Center advances the PCTI approach nationwide by issuing programming grants to Jewish and non-Jewish organizations, providing technical assistance and capacity-building to subgrantees and the aging network at large, and advocating on behalf of the needs of vulnerable older adults. Position Summary JFNA is seeking an Assistant Director, Finance and Grants, to provide technical support and capacity-building related to budget management and grantmaking operations. This role will support the Center and its staff, as well as subgrantees across the U.S. and various internal and external partners. The ideal candidate will have proven experience collaborating with stakeholders to develop strategic budgets that align with agency projects, organizational goals, and grant compliance requirements. Responsibilities Provide strategic guidance on financial processes, procedures, and policies related to the Center’s internal operations and subgrantee oversight. Draft budgets and budget narratives for federal and non-federal grant proposals; financial spreadsheets, reports, and narratives for grant reporting; standard operating procedures; audit confirmation letters for subgrantees; financial instructions and templates for the Center’s RFPs; financial resources; invoices; and other written materials as needed. Create and update reporting procedures to enhance efficiency and streamline operations for the Center and its subgrantees. Track, analyze, and report trends on subgrantee spending and matching contributions, and provide financial analysis and data for site visits, and/or other Center initiatives. Research and advise on grant, compliance, and financial issues. Create, review, and revise cooperative agreements, MOUs, and vendor contracts. Collaborate with JFNA’s Finance Department and external stakeholders, including subgrantees, vendors, and funders, on invoices, budgets, reporting, and other related issues. Participate in remote and in-person site visits, staff meetings, and conferences. Manage and support other projects as requested. Qualifications Five years of progressive experience in creating, managing, and/or evaluating program budgets in a nonprofit, grantmaking organization, or government agency. Experience with federal grants and knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations is preferred. Must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to develop systems including policies and forms for tracking information. Professional self-starter and team-player who can multi-task, meet deadlines, and collaborate with a remote team and stakeholders. Excellent verbal, written, and quantitative skills. Capable of maintaining confidentiality while exercising sound judgement and discretion. Superior Excel skills, proficiency in MS Office Suite, and comfort learning technical platforms. Interest in aging, trauma and a commitment to helping Holocaust survivors, older adults with a history of trauma, and family caregivers. Ability to occasionally travel domestically for site visits.
