After School Program Support Staff - Part-Time
$20 - $25 per hourDwight School Athletic Center
Job Description
Job Description
Dwight School is the first school in the Americas to offer all four International Baccalaureate programs from preschool to grade 12. Guided by our philosophy of igniting the spark of genius in every child, Dwight is an inclusive school that aims to meet the unique needs, abilities, and interests of each student. At the same time, Dwight challenges every student to develop intellectual independence, respect for diversity and belonging, and to become innovators and thought leaders.
Known for its low student-teacher ratio, Dwight enrolls 1,100 students with 400 faculty and staff. Our School rests on three pillars: personalized learning, community, and global vision. As part of a leading global network of schools, Dwight offers employees exciting cross-campus opportunities. Additionally, with the support of The Dwight School Foundation’s generous grants, Dwight provides faculty professional development, enabling teachers to deepen their content knowledge and pursue their own sparks of genius to be shared with the community.
At Dwight, we strive to ensure that our environment is welcoming — a place in which everyone can thrive — and an organization we are proud of. We recognize that this takes trusting relationships and ensuring that all individuals feel valued regardless of their backgrounds. At Dwight, we encourage diversity in all respects, including diversity of thought, and embrace innovation and foster collaboration and growth.
We consistently strive to advance the equity, diversity and belonging of our community in all domains, including the curriculum, admissions, environment, and hiring. Our goal is to achieve and maintain equal employment opportunities, with policies in place to maintain a work environment free from discrimination.
JOB OPPORTUNITY
2026-2027 Dwight Clubhouse Support Staff – 94th Street Campus
A clubhouse support staff position is available for the 2026/27 school year over at the new Dwight 94th Street campus. Dwight Club House is open to preschool 3s - grade 4. This daily drop-in program is designed to extend the day to 5:30 p.m. We seek someone to support students in a structured but relaxed alternative to our other after-school offerings. Students can read, play with friends, draw, and enjoy board games and gross motor activities.
Start Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2026 - Friday, June 4, 2027.
Off Days: These are days when the school is closed per the school calendar and are not paid.
Salary Range: $20-$25 based on experience.
Hourly Position: 2:30–5:30 PM
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a professional representative of Dwight School in all interactions with children, families, colleagues, and members of the school community.
- Follow and uphold all Dwight School policies, procedures, and expectations outlined in the School Handbook and childcare program guidelines.
- Provide active supervision at all times, remaining attentive to the location, safety, and needs of every child in your care.
- Support the developmental, social-emotional, and academic needs of children across different age groups, from 3s through Grade 4.
- Assist school-age students with homework when appropriate, providing guidance and encouragement while promoting independence.
- Actively engage with children during play, activities, snack, homework time, transitions, and dismissal rather than supervising from a distance.
- Establish and maintain clear, age-appropriate expectations, routines, and boundaries to create a safe, positive, and structured environment.
- Plan and lead age-appropriate, creative, and enriching activities, including arts and crafts, games, movement, literacy, and other hands-on experiences.
- Support younger children with transitions and daily routines, encouraging independence while providing developmentally appropriate assistance as needed.
- Promote positive behavior and respectful interactions by modeling appropriate communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Accurately track attendance and maintain awareness of all children assigned to your group throughout the program.
- Follow all established arrival, dismissal, and authorized pick-up procedures, ensuring children are released only according to program protocols.
- Regularly communicate accurate attendance and dismissal information to the front desk/security to support safe and efficient Clubhouse sign-out.
- Immediately report any injuries, incidents, safety concerns, behavioral concerns, or other significant issues to the appropriate supervisor and follow required reporting procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming Clubhouse environment that supports children's learning, play, development, and well-being.
- Work collaboratively with fellow staff members to ensure appropriate supervision, smooth transitions, and consistent expectations throughout the program.
Job Requirements:
- Adhere to Article 48 Department of Health requirements, including but not limited to annual physical examination, immunization records, and child care training.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Essential physical requirements of the position include but are not limited to - standing for extended periods of time, use of stairs to move about the building, lifting and carrying materials and/or boxes up to 20 lbs.
We are committed to making our recruitment practices barrier-free and as accessible as possible for everyone. This includes making adjustments or changes for disabled people or people with long-term health conditions. If you would like us to do anything differently during the recruitment process, or provide any information in an alternative format, please let us know.
Dwight School’s goal is to achieve and maintain equal employment opportunities. It is also the policy of Dwight School to maintain a work environment free from discrimination based on race, color, religious creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, genetic information, veteran/military status, marital status, or other status protected by federal or state law, with regards to any term or condition of employment.
