ADULT EDUCATOR - PT Daley’s Adult Education Department is currently seeking qualifiedPart-Time Adult Educators to provide instruction to studentsenrolled in areas such as Adult Basic Education (ABE), GeneralEducation Development (GED) with focus on Math or Language Arts,and English as a Second Language (ESL). Daley seeks an Adult Educator with a passion for teaching andlearning, along with a strong commitment to the mission and idealsof the community college. The ideal candidate will havedemonstrated success in the classroom by developing and usinghighly effective teaching strategies that meet students’ diverseneeds; promotes the acquisition and application of knowledge andthe development of critical and creative thinking and problemsolving skills; in addition, engage in and model intellectualcuriosity and express passion for learning in general. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Takes attendance and monitors class enrollment. Assists with program registration. Participates in staff development programs asrequired. Develops class syllabi and appropriate class materials andcurriculum for class instruction. Evaluates student progress and extra instruction needs; refersstudent to tutoring as needed. Administers progress tests to students and assigns grades basedon test results. Prepares reports to senior management regarding test scores,student participation, and student progress. Keeps abreast of state rules and regulations regarding AdultEducation policies. Stays abreast of the pedagogy of teaching and adjusts teachingmethods accordingly. Attends regular staff meetings with Adult Education Managersand Adult Education Coordinators to receive information regardingprogram policies and procedures. Qualifications B.S., B.A. from a regionally accredited university/college in adiscipline appropriate to instructional subject, preferablyEnglish, Mathematics, Reading, Elementary or Secondary Education,Social Science, Science, History, ABE/GED Education, and/orEducation required. M.Ed., M.A., or M.S. from a regionally accrediteduniversity/college in Curriculum and Instruction, Teaching,Reading, Mathematics, Educational Policy, Literacy Studies, AdultEducation, Secondary Education or Elementary Educationpreferred. International degree(s) evaluated by a certified provider (e.g.E.C.E., W.E.S., etc.). Official transcript(s) reflect sufficient subject-relevantcoursework to teach the assigned course. Submit sample lesson plans, syllabi and/or teaching portfoliothat reflect skills in area(s) of instruction, including computerliteracy and adult learning practices. Knowledge of current adult education classroom assessmenttechniques. Completed satisfactory teaching demonstration for the hiringcommittee. Have availability to teach in our offsite locations. This allows themthe opportunity to review and apply for assignments relevant toAdult Educator’s expertise and interest. The starting pay for this position is $41.23/ hourly.
