Principles of Accounting, Department of Accounting and Finance - Adjunct Faculty

Overview Adjunct Faculty – Principles of Accounting Department, Accounting and Finance, University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC). Location: CSM La Plata, MD. The position is to teach on-site at CSM La Plata. Courses to Teach Principles of Accounting I (ACCT 220): Introduction to financial accounting theory, transaction analysis, and financial statement preparation. Principles of Accounting II (ACCT 221): Advanced accounting practices, data analysis, managerial accounting techniques, and interdependency of financial statements. Accounting Information Systems (ACCT 326): AIS concepts, controls, technology integration, and e‑commerce/business information systems. Qualifications Master’s degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution. Professional experience in accounting or a related field. Teaching experience with adult learners in higher education (online or classroom) preferred. Certifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, or CFE are desirable. International degrees may require translation/degree evaluation from a NACES‑approved vendor. Responsibilities Actively engage students through frequent interaction and demonstrate genuine enthusiasm for learning. Guide students in collaborative, problem‑ and project‑based learning activities. Provide regular, constructive feedback using rubrics for assessment of student work. Show current subject‑matter expertise, helping students connect concepts across the program. Offer feedback to the program chair on potential curricular improvements. Complete the required online two‑week new faculty orientation (FacDev 411) before teaching. Salary Salary commensurate with experience. Rates range per credit hour based on rank and degree level.
