The Haines Borough School District is accepting applications for a full time, school year para-professional for the 2026-27 school year.

Position Summary:

The Haines Borough School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Para-Professional to support students with special needs in both inclusive and specialized educational settings. Under the direction of a certified special education teacher or program specialist, the para-professional will assist in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and support students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate's degree or the ability to pass the ParaPro Assessment required
• College-level coursework or training in education, special education, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of two years' experience working with students with disabilities preferred
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and communicate effectively with students
• Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a commitment to student growth

Responsibilities:

• Assist in delivering instructional and behavioral support services to students
• Work one-on-one or in small groups to implement IEP goals
• Support students in classroom, community, and/or life skills activities
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold student dignity
• Monitor and document student progress as directed
• Provide support for communication, mobility, and personal care needs as required

Salary & Benefits:

• Hourly wage based on district salary schedule and experience
