Senior Customs Compliance Manager

The Senior Customs Senior Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that the organization adheres to all applicable customs laws and regulations. This role involves managing the Customs Compliance program, Import Brokerage, and collaborating with various departments to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Customs regulations, US Custom Regulations, excellent analytical skills, and a proven track record in compliance management. Key Responsibilities: Customs Compliance & Regulatory Updates: Stay informed about changes in import & trade regulations and ensure compliance with all relevant customs laws and requirements. Make necessary adjustments to company policies & practices. Develop, implement, and maintain Customs Compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations. Process Optimization: Develop and implement customs compliance procedures & policies. Continuously evaluate and optimize processes to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize operational costs. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives in customs compliance processes, incorporating automation and efficiency measures. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring that operations are conducted in a secure and compliant manner. Tariff Classification: Secure proper classification of products under the Harmonized Tariff System (HTS) and ensure accurate application of duty rates. Trade Agreements: Utilize knowledge of trade agreements & preferential trade programs to maximize cost savings & benefits. Audit & Compliance Checks: Conduct regular audits of import processes & documentation to ensure compliance with customs regulations and internal policies. Review and audit branch-validated powers of attorneys. Monitor and manage compliance of reconciliation entries. Collaboration with US Customs Authorities: Build & maintain strong relationships with customs authorities. Act as primary contact for customs inquiries, audits, and addressing compliance matters. Training: Train employees in US Customs compliance policies and procedures. Provide training and guidance to internal teams on customs compliance, best practices and regulatory changes. Reporting: Generate comprehensive reports customs compliance activities, audit results, and compliance metrics for management review. Prepare reports and metrics related to customs compliance activities and present findings to management. Post-Summary Correction Program and Support: Provide support for post summary corrections, ensuring the accurate and timely submission of claims. Ability to analyze and answer inquiries from US Customs, including researching historical data. Problem Resolution: Proactively address issues related to Import compliance, troubleshoot problems, and implement corrective measures. Conduct regular audits of import/export activities to identify compliance gaps and recommend corrective actions. Serve as the primary point of contact for CBP inquiries and facilitate communication with customs officials as needed. Monitor and analyze changes in customs regulations and assess their impact on the organization’s operations. Collaborate with logistics, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure compliance in all aspects of importing and exporting goods. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in customs compliance or international trade, with a strong understanding of U.S. customs regulations. Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) required. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments. Proficiency in customs software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
