Biomedical Lab IT Systems Engineer

Are you an experienced IT professional with a background in biotech? A top-tier global pharmaceutical leader in San Diego, CA is seeking a Lab IT Services Engineer for an 18-month onsite contract. In this role, you will deliver hands-on technology support in a state-of-the-art biomedical research center, ensuring seamless system integration and software configuration to power critical scientific discovery.

responsibilities:

• Onboard, integrate, and configure new PCs, workstations, and scientific software to company security guidelines.
• Collaborate directly with research scientists to identify informatics needs and optimize data flow and infrastructure.
• Manage lab equipment integration, supporting specialized instruments such as mass specs, liquid handlers, plate readers, and gene sequencers.
• Deliver technical expertise and business analysis during the planning, definition, and rollout of lab IT projects.
• Resolve service tickets promptly using endpoint management systems while maintaining high quality and customer service standards.

 
qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
• 5+ years of progressive experience troubleshooting and supporting Windows operating systems (Win10, Win11, Win11IoT).
• Proven biotech or biopharma experience supporting scientific instrumentation, specialized vendor applications, and nonstandard software.
• Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation (e.g., mass specs, liquid handlers, gene sequencers, imaging instruments).
• Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g., Altiris, Simple Help) and scripting capabilities.
• Strong customer service focus and exceptional problem-solving skills.
