Location Norfolk, VA Job Summary The Physician role provides primary health care services for ODUstudents through Student Health Services’ two clinic locations inNorfolk, Virginia. The Physician serves a diverse studentpopulation including undergraduate, graduate and medical students.The role provides medical consultation and supervision of mid-levelproviders in the Student Health clinics and covers for the MedicalDirector in their absence, including supervision of clinicalsupervisor and laboratory supervisor. The Physician contributes toquality improvement studies, clinic operations, and the studentcommunity through participation in department and universityprograms and activities. Position Type FullTime Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum Qualifications Knowledge of the role of as a physician in an ambulatory caresetting. Considerable interpersonal skills as well as excellentverbal/written skills. Considerable ability to interact positivelywith a diverse student population. Considerable ability to interactpositively with nurse practitioners/physician assistants, athletictraining staff, and counseling staff. Licensed to practice or eligible for licensure as a physician inthe state of Virginia; Current DEA license; Satisfactory Review bythe National Practitioner Databank. Board certified in the physician’s primary specialty (e.g., FamilyMedicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine) and MedicalDegree may be MD or DO from an accredited medical school. Some experience as a primary care physician in an outpatientsetting. Preferred Qualifications Some experience in a college health setting.
