Job Description
About DTMB: The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.
The level of this position (Electrician Licensed E9 or Electrician Master Licensed E10) depends on applicant's license. Please attach a copy of your license to your application. Failure to do so will result in your application not being considered.
Electrician Licensed E9 / $31.38 - $40.32 This is the experienced (journeyman) level. The employee performs a full range of Electrician assignments using independent judgment to make decisions requiring the application of procedures and practices to specific work situations. The employee will work in concert with other Electricians and trades to perform a full range of Electrician assignments for projects on state properties as required for maintenance, construction and remodeling. The employee will utilize a wide range of power tools and other equipment appropriate to the work. The employee will provide customer service with courtesy, respect and attention to detail, work cooperatively with staff, and assure all staff are customer service oriented, expressing a positive and helpful outcome to projects and during daily interaction with tenants.
Electrician Master Licensed E10 / $31.75 - $43.30 This is the experienced (master) level. The employee obtains permits, performs electrical work as required by law, and performs the full range of technical aspects of electrical work. The employee uses considerable independent judgment in making decisions without the availability of supervision. The employee will work in concert with other Electricians and trades to perform a full range of Electrician assignments for projects on state properties as required for maintenance, construction and remodeling. The employee will utilize a wide range of power tools and other equipment appropriate to the work. The employee will provide customer service with courtesy, respect and attention to detail, work cooperatively with staff, and assure all staff are customer service oriented, expressing a positive and helpful outcome to projects and during daily interaction with tenants.
Signing Bonus: This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $5,000. Up to $1,500 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Required Education and Experience
Education: Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience: No specific type or amount is required beyond that required for licensure. Possession of a journeyman electrician's license for Electrician Licensed E9. Possession of a master electrician's license issued by the State of Michigan for Electrician Master Licensed E10.
Additional Requirements and Information
Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications: Possession of a journey/master electrician's license. Some positions may require possession of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle.

Retirement Programs: The State of Michigan offers 401(k) and 457 plans for new hires to save for retirement. The state will automatically contribute an amount equal to 4% of your pay to a 401(k) account. The state will also match up to 5% of your pay if you contribute to your 401(k) account. Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year's Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
Bonus Programs: Eligible employees with five years of service also receive annual longevity bonuses that grow as seniority increases. Some positions also may qualify for recruitment, retention, and performance bonuses or other special pay premiums.
Military Pay Differential: Employees in the guard or reserves may also qualify for supplemental pay benefits if military pay during qualifying duty is less than normal state pay. Prior military service may also allow seniority credits to accelerate eligibility for longevity bonuses and additional personal leave accrual.
Tax-Advantaged Programs: In addition to 401(k) and 457 retirement accounts, the state also offers flexible spending account (FSA), health savings account (HSA), and qualified transportation fringe benefit (QTFB) programs that can help you save money by reducing your taxable income.
