Field Service EngineerReports To: Operational Service ManagerJob PurposeThe Field Service Engineer position installs, diagnoses, repairs, and calibrates the refrigeration and electrical systems on our environmental test chambers. The position travels to troubleshoot equipment at customer sites. Travel can be up to 50% overnight stays of annually scheduled work time. The position also serves as a customer service support person that provides customer-based solutions and is a sales liaison working with the sales division of the company for both service and chamber needs.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDiagnoses, repairs and calibrates complex cascade refrigeration and electrical systems on our environmental test chambersInstallation and maintenance of environmental test chambersUsage of hand and power tools, refrigeration gauges and evacuatorsCompletes all required development training requirements including but not limited to Career Path Training with goal to achieve highest level of expected skills for positionSupports the Key and Strategic Accounts to achieve budgeted/planned performance, grow sales, grow territory, brand awareness and increase market shareSupports service sales goals of company and becomes liaison for large and small business opportunities by supporting customer needsParticipates in various teams and initiatives within the companyProvides the company input on customer contractual requirementsProvides the company input on product development requirementsSupports the company's protection of intellectual propertyDemonstrated ability of professional and public communication skills as it relates to building relationships with customersMulti-dimensional problem-solving skillsAbility to use and perform in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Management of multiple customer locations and ability to work with mid to upper-level customer managementQualificationsPossession of High School Diploma or GED requiredHVAC program certification, associate's degree and or equivalent work experience in specified field requiredValid driver's license with good driving recordAbility to possess major credit card to cover travel expenses to be reimbursedCFC Type II or Universal EPA certification requiredSelf-starter-ability to work independently with little or no supervisionThorough understanding of mechanical and electrical operations preferredAbility to read blueprints (mechanical and electrical) and identify componentsAbility and willingness to travel (local, national and international as required)Good verbal and written communication skillsAbility to represent company wellBasic computer skillsFundamental understanding in air, water, refrigeration piping, compression system, electricity and electrical installation preferredUnderstand refrigerant and capacity controlsSoldering and welding skills-desiredKnowledge of controls and PLCs-desiredWorking ConditionsMostly standing work. Frequently lifting up to 25 lbs, occasionally lifting up to 100 lbs. (Lifting more than 50 lbs overhead must be performed by using mechanical aids; if mechanical aids are not available, the lift will be performed by two employees in a team lift.) Detailed work with hands; fine work, simple grasping and pushing and pulling.Position may involve bending, squatting, climbing, crawling, reaching, and twisting with occasional kneeling. Significant portions of travel time may involve extended sedentary periods. Subject to weather and adverse driving conditions when outside. As needed, will work at a desk and a computer screen for extended periods of time. Must be able to manually enter data to the computer system and understand the screen and images that appear.
