Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit. The position provides critical care for adult patients with complex cardiac, respiratory, neurologic, and renal conditions. The assignment is scheduled to begin 11/16/2026 and requires advanced cardiac, emergency response, ventilator management, and vasoactive medication skills.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights, 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., 12-hour shifts; 36 hours per week. Every other weekend is required.
• Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of intensive care experience; active Illinois nursing license; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications; cardiac monitoring and emergency response experience; dysrhythmia interpretation and management; 12-lead electrocardiogram acquisition; pre- and post-cardiac catheterization or intervention experience; chronic and acute renal failure experience; arterial line management; blood product administration; central line and peripherally inserted central catheter management; port access; intravenous therapy and initiation; continuous intravenous sedation; emergency medication administration; cardiac and vasoactive medication titration; cerebrovascular accident and acute stroke management; bilevel positive airway pressure and continuous positive airway pressure management; care of ventilated patients; high-flow nasal cannula management; arterial blood gas interpretation; endotracheal and nasotracheal suctioning; ventilator management; infection prevention; isolation precautions and personal protective equipment use; and code blue or rapid response experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Cardiovascular intensive care experience; experience with cardiac devices, including Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump, or temporary pacing; experience caring for patients with multisystem organ dysfunction or failure; chest tube management; epicardial pacing wire care; hypothermia protocols; and cardiac intensive care patient ratios of 1:2.
• Additional Information: The unit includes 20 beds with typical patient ratios of 1:2. Patient populations and conditions include chest pain, congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction, dysrhythmias, post-cardiac interventions, ablations, cardiogenic shock, syncope, stroke, respiratory failure, pulmonary embolism, renal failure, and gastrointestinal bleeding. Clinical procedures and equipment may include cardiac catheterization recovery, chest tubes, intubation, code blue response, temporary pacing, defibrillation, intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella, intravenous pumps, patient-controlled analgesia, end-tidal carbon dioxide monitoring, ventilators, and telemetry. Required flu vaccination applies, with medical and religious exemptions permitted.
