LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse - General Surgery

Job Summary Geisinger offers outpatient Clinic Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) a $5,000 sign‑on bonus for eligible candidates. Geisinger has hundreds of community sites that allow LPNs to work to the top of their license while providing top‑notch care in an ambulatory setting. Job Duties The Clinic Nurse provides primary clinical support to the provider, patient and family to assist in diagnosis and treatment. Follows up on diagnostic testing to ensure completion, accuracy, and filing in medical record. Promotes a clean environment. Full‑time, 40 hours weekly; 8‑hour shift, 8 am to 4:30 pm. Located at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA. New and experienced LPNs are welcome. Obtains and documents patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provides basic medical database for provider, and prepares patient for examinations. Provides direct clinical care as directed by provider. Assists provider in performance of minor surgical diagnostic procedures and ancillary diagnostic examinations. Collects and prepares laboratory specimens and completes paperwork to expedite laboratory studies. Executes and documents ongoing patient communication, responds to patient questions, and administers medications and vaccines including intradermal and skin testing under provider direction. Cleans and sets up exam and treatment rooms between cases, ensuring asepsis, instruments, equipment, and patient preparation. Benefits Geisinger cares about patients, members and employees. Experience Minimum of 1 year nursing (Preferred). Certification(s) and License(s) Licensed Practical Nurse; Basic Life Support Certification (both default issuing bodies).
