Director of Nursing

As a Director of Nursing in the RN field, you lead nursing operations across units, drive quality and safety initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance and effective staff development. You set strategic direction for clinical practice, oversee staffing, and partner with leaders to deliver high quality patient care and family experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures across units
• Lead staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet patient needs
• Monitor patient safety, quality metrics, and performance improvement initiatives
• Oversee regulatory compliance, accreditation readiness, and reporting
• Collaborate with medical leadership to coordinate services and clinical protocols
• Support professional development and performance management for nursing staff
• Manage budgets, equipment, and supply planning for nursing services
• Engage in data-driven decision making and strategic planning

Qualifications

Education: BSN required; MSN or doctoral degree preferred for leadership roles.

Licensure: Active US RN license in good standing

Certifications:

• Nurse Executive or leadership certification such as CNML or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

Experience or Skills: Significant leadership experience in nursing administration, strong communication, and change management capabilities

Experience

• Experience directing nursing operations in a hospital or health system
• Experience implementing quality improvement and regulatory readiness programs
• Experience managing multi-unit staffing and budgets

Preferred

• MSN or higher degree
• CNML or equivalent leadership certification
• Experience in a multi-hospital system

Administrative and clinical leadership environment with cross-disciplinary collaboration. Hybrid schedule with potential for on-call leadership duties and travel between facilities.
