Financial Controller

As Controller, you'll own the integrity of our financial records and lead the accounting function behind them. Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll drive the monthly and annual close process, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, internal controls, and technical accounting policy company-wide. You'll partner closely with the CFO on audit readiness and process improvement, and serve as a go-to resource for department leaders on accounting matters affecting their areas. Reporting directly to the CFO, you'll drive the monthly and annual close process, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, internal controls, and technical accounting policy company-wide. You'll partner closely with the CFO on audit readiness and process improvement, and serve as a go-to resource for department leaders on accounting matters affecting their areas. What You’ll Do Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across all entities/locations, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Manage and review balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and account analyses; investigate and resolve discrepancies. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, fixed assets, and general ledger functions. Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting; document and monitor key accounting processes and policies. Serve as the primary lead for external audit and tax preparation, coordinating fieldwork, schedules, and support with outside auditors and tax preparers. Partner with the CFO on multi‑state tax compliance, including sales/use tax and state income/franchise tax filings across all operating jurisdictions. Lead cash management and treasury functions, including bank reconciliations and cash flow monitoring. Drive month-over-month and budget-to-actual variance analysis by division/location, identifying probable causes and escalating issues to the CFO. Manage revenue recognition and cost of goods sold for a manufacturing company. Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff; establish clear close‑cycle timelines and review procedures. Support the CFO with ad hoc financial analysis, board and lender reporting packages, and special projects as needed. Ensure compliance with company policy and applicable federal, state, and local accounting and financial reporting regulations. What You Bring Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA strongly preferred. 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role. Experience in a multi‑location or multi‑state manufacturing, distribution, or field‑services business strongly preferred. Strong working knowledge of NetSuite; advanced Excel proficiency required. Demonstrated ownership of the full close cycle and financial statement preparation under GAAP. Prior experience managing or coordinating external audits and multi‑state tax compliance. Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate financial detail into clear guidance for non‑financial leaders. Proven people‑management experience, with the ability to build and develop an accounting team. High degree of accuracy, discretion, and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
