A Day in the Life

As a Chlor-Alkali Tank Farm Process Technician, your evening begins with a thorough safety check before you head out to the tank farm. You’ll stage raw materials, verify railcar connections, and carefully manage chlorine railcar transfers. Between batches of bleach, you’ll run in-process quality tests—titrations, filter checks, and water hardness—to keep every lot on spec. When gaskets need swapping or process piping requires preventive attention, you’ll perform minor mechanical work, all while documenting your actions and handing off a clear status email to the next shift. Throughout the shift, you’ll follow OSHA hazardous materials procedures, adhere to environmental and GMP standards, and support the site emergency response team if called upon. Your precision keeps people safe and product quality high.

Schedule & Pay

• 2nd shift: Monday – Friday, 3:00 – 11:30 pm; occasional Saturdays based on business needs
• Hourly range: $22.34–$26.97 depending on experience
• Additional $0.05 shift differential for all hours worked outside of 1st shift

What You’ll Handle

• Operate tank farm and processing equipment for bleach production
• Load and unload chlorine railcars following strict procedures
• Conduct titration, filter, and water hardness tests on batches
• Move raw materials safely by sit-down forklift
• Perform light mechanical tasks (e.g., gasket changes, process piping PM)
• Complete required paperwork and send end-of-shift email updates
• Treat and dispose of wastewater in line with site guidelines
• Comply with OSHA HAZMAT, environmental rules, and GMP requirements
• Actively participate on the site emergency response team

What You Bring

• High school diploma or GED
• Bilingual candidates preferred but not required
• 2+ years in hazardous liquid chemical plant processing
• 1+ year working in a tank farm with railcar loading/unloading
• 1+ year driving a sit-down forklift
• Hands-on experience with chlorine or other highly hazardous chemicals
• Strong attention to detail; able to follow precise procedures
• Clear written/verbal communication; solid math; MS Word/Excel skills
• Proven reliability and attendance; able to work scheduled hours and overtime as needed
• Consistent safety focus in high-hazard environments

Physical Demands & Environment

• Qualified to wear a full-face respirator; per OSHA, no facial hair may interfere with the seal
• Extended outdoor work in changing weather and temperatures
• Lift up to 45 pounds
• Comfort working around strong odors and various chemicals
• Operate in non-temperature-controlled areas
• Climb ladders and stairs to access tanks and vessels
• Use required PPE and follow Health, Safety, and GMP regulations
