Assistant Project Manager (Civil Construction)

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is looking for Assistant Project Manager to work on various projects in the Norther Virginia/MD/DC area. Based in Lorton, Virginia, Shirley Contracting Company is a leading provider of comprehensive transportation and heavy civil construction services in the Mid-Atlantic Region. Since 1974, Shirley has played a large role in the development of highway and roadway infrastructure in the Virginia, Maryland, and DC Metro area. Shirley is a subsidiary of Clark Construction Group. Requirements Works directly with the Project Manager to help implement project goals 3 - 5 Years of construction management experience Understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles Outstanding communication, negotiation, organizational and time-management skills Proficient with computers and corresponding programs – Word, Excel, PowerPoint A team player with leadership abilities High School diploma or equivalent Bachelor’s degree (preferred) Must pass pre-employment physical/drug screening. Responsibility Assist with planning, scheduling, supervising and coordinating all aspects of a wide range of construction projects to ensure that deadlines and budgets are met. Assist with negotiation and management of contracts with vendors and subcontractors. Assist the Project Manager with determining needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to schedule and budget details. Organize, file and maintain project documents. Ensure the company’s health and safety culture, policies and requirements are met. Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with customer and co-workers. Benefits Competitive salary, Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401K with Company Match and Company Contribution, and PTO. For this role the base salary range is $80,000-115,000. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. Base pay is one part of the Total Compensation Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
