To continue our standard of excellence, Piedmont is seeking a motivated, reliable student to join us as a Safety Department Intern. This internship will assist in achieving the corporate mission of providing a safe environment for employees and customers. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about and be exposed to each function of an airline safety department. After successfully completing the internship, the intern will have an overall knowledge needed to understand all elements of safety. This intern position is responsible for assisting the Ground Safety team with ensuring safety and compliance throughout the organization. This position reports to the Manager of Occupational Health Programs.Essential Duties:Involvement in Occupational Safety and Health Programs, including but not limited to: Injury and Illness Prevention; Heat Illness Prevention; Wildfire Smoke Protocol; and OSHA Self-AuditsAssist with review and follow-up of report submissionsAssist in creating data visualizations and reviewing manualsJob Qualifications and Competencies:One (1) year of progress towards a degree with a major or minor in safety or aviation/aeronautical scienceExcellent communication and Microsoft Office Suite skills requiredOrganized, detail oriented, self-motivated, ability to multi-task, problem solving skills, and the ability to set and meet deadlinesGeneral knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations, and procedures regarding airline safetyPreferred Qualifications:Junior or Senior studentPrior work experience, especially in a fast-paced office environmentKnowledge of TableauWork Environment:Standard office environment, use of computers and other office equipmentAbility to work a flexible schedule if neededSome travel requiredPhysical Requirements:Occasional lifting up to 25 poundsThe above statements provide a brief description of the general nature of work performed and not intended to be a complete list of responsibilities, duties and skills required for this position.
