Night 3x12-Hour Shift: 19:00 - 07:30

Unit Description

Join a dynamic 40-bed medical-surgical unit with a 1:5 RN-to-patient ratio. This unit specializes in post-surgical care, including trauma, plastic, vascular, and other surgical patients. The environment is fast-paced, and our nursing team is highly cohesive, supportive, and collaborative.

Patient Population

• Post-surgical patients
• Trauma patients
• Plastic surgery patients
• Vascular surgery patients

Job Requirements

• Previous Charge Experience: 2 years
• Patient Ratio Experience: Required
• Charting System Experience: Required (Community Hospital)
• Certifications: BLS, CPI, CMSRN, central lines, and ports
• Skills:
  • Accessing/Managing Ports
  • BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Blood Product Administration
  • Feeding tube care and management
  • Central line care/management
  • Chest tubes management
  • Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Isolation Precautions/PPE
  • Management of dysrhythmias
  • Starting and maintaining IVs
  • Wound Care/Wound Vac
  • Tracheostomy care/management
  • Surgical drains management

Unit Details

• Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
• Daily Census: 31
• Interdisciplinary Support: Includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, and more.
• Typical Diagnoses: Trauma, Acute Surgical Post-operative, including but not limited to bowel resections, complex wounds, traumatic injuries.

Special Procedures/Unit Information

This unit features no titration of medications, chest tubes, central lines, and ports management. A discharge lounge is staffed with an RN and CNA for enhanced patient flow. We maintain the highest discharge rate among medical-surgical units with a focus on surgical populations.

Travel Compliance

• No hits on Nursys or background checks accepted.
• No time off within the first two weeks of an assignment; a maximum of 7 days of time off per 13-week contract is preferred.
• Valid California state license is required.
• All required certifications must be held at the time of application.
• EPIC experience is required.
