Key Responsibilities of the RN – PACU:

• Monitor and assess patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical and procedural interventions
• Administer medications, manage pain, and provide post-operative care according to physician orders
• Continuously evaluate patient vital signs, airway status, and recovery progress
• Recognize and respond promptly to post-anesthesia complications and emergencies
• Educate patients and families regarding recovery expectations and discharge instructions
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments and interventions
• Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory standards

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of recent RN PACU experience
• Active  South Carolina RN License or Compact RN License
• Current  BLS and ACLS certifications required
• PALS certification preferred depending on facility requirements
• Strong knowledge of post-anesthesia recovery protocols and critical care principles
• Excellent assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced perioperative environment
