Job Summary / Basic Function

The Position

Reporting to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and serving as a member of both the Deans Council and President’s Leadership Council, the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management is the chief enrollment officer. The AVPEM leads the development and implementation of a comprehensive enrollment management plan, oversees 33 staff across Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Registrar, and ensures delivery of quality services to prospective, current, and former students as well as faculty, staff, and administrators. The AVPEM collaborates with Deans, Directors, Department Chairs, and other university officials to maintain the highest level of service to students and the campus community and supports the University’s EPPIIC values and strategic plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of the offices that are part of Enrollment Management (Admissions, Financial Aid, and Registrar) to ensure delivery of quality services to all constituents.
  • Provide leadership for the University’s enrollment management effort by coordinating the development and implementation of an effective enrollment management plan.
  • Create a comprehensive admissions plan to include traditional undergraduate students, transfer students, and online degree completion students.
  • Work collaboratively with Graduate Coordinators to support graduate admissions.
  • Support, in consultation with academic deans, all aspects of graduate enrollment management, including recruitment, admissions, retention, student support and success, and degree completion.

  • Manage International Student Admissions with assistance for VISA processing and transcript evaluation from the Office of International Programs and Services.
  • Contribute to the development of effective policies and procedures related to student enrollment and enrollment‑related functions.
  • Provide data‑driven decision making.
  • Work collaboratively with Colleges and other units for recruitment and admission processes for dual‑credit, transfer, and non‑traditional students.
  • Provide relevant data and analysis regarding enrollment trends, course demands, and other indicators needed to support decisions regarding course offerings.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a strategic enrollment management plan that incorporates best practices related to enrollment management.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing and Communications to develop and drive effective cross‑media messages and marketing plans for prospective students.
  • Develop and manage the Enrollment Management budgets and resources and act responsively with well‑documented accountability for these matters.
  • Engage faculty, staff, senior leadership, alumni, and students in the recruitment process, galvanizing the many constituencies of the University to join in helping realize enrollment goals.
  • Work with admissions and the Colleges to ensure that the first impressions prospective students have of the University are first‑rate, high‑touch, and of the highest possible caliber.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree.
  • Significant experience in an enrollment management unit (e.g., Admissions, Financial Aid, and/or Registrar) with experience at the Director or Assistant Vice President level.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of comprehensive college or university enrollment management plans with evidence of effectiveness in marketing and recruitment.
  • Ability to organize administrative units to maximize achievement of recruiting and enrollment goals.
  • Management skills in the selection and supervision of professional staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Budget management skills.
  • Sensitivity to issues related to recruitment and retention of a diverse student body and ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • In‑depth understanding of best practices for growing student enrollment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and work effectively with administrators, academic leadership, faculty, students, alumni, donors, community leaders and members, and elected and appointed public officials.
  • Advanced analytical, evaluative, and objective critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions.
  • Experience in recruitment of a diversity of students (e.g., traditional undergraduate, transfer, degree completer, and graduate).
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and working with diverse student populations.
