Position Summary

The Procurement Assistant supports the purchasing and supplychain functions for a welding supply and steel construction operation. Thisrole is responsible for processing purchase orders, tracking materialdeliveries, maintaining vendor relationships, monitoring inventory levels, andensuring materials, tools, consumables, and equipment are available to supportfabrication, construction, and field operations. The Procurement Assistantplays a critical role in maintaining accurate purchasing records, controllingcosts, and coordinating timely delivery of products needed for businessoperations.

Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Procurement
• Create and process purchase orders for steelproducts, welding consumables, tools, safety equipment, and constructionmaterials.
• Obtain and compare vendor quotes to supportcost-effective purchasing decisions.
• Monitor order status and follow up withsuppliers to ensure on-time delivery.
• Assist in negotiating pricing, deliveryschedules, and terms with vendors.
• Maintain purchasing records, contracts, andsupplier documentation.

Inventory Management
• Monitor inventory levels and identifyreplenishment needs.
• Assist with cycle counts and physicalinventories.
• Coordinate with warehouse personnel to verifyreceipt of purchased materials.
• Investigate and resolve receiving discrepancies,shortages, and damaged shipments.
• Maintain accurate inventory and purchasing datawithin company systems.

Vendor Coordination
• Develop and maintain professional relationshipswith vendors and suppliers.
• Communicate delivery schedules, order changes,and procurement requirements.
• Track supplier performance regarding quality,pricing, and delivery reliability.
• Maintain vendor files, certifications, insurancedocuments, and contact information.

Logistics & Scheduling
• Coordinate inbound deliveries to supportfabrication projects, retail sales, and field operations.
• Work closely with warehouse, shop, projectmanagement, and field teams to identify material needs.
• Assist with freight scheduling and deliverytracking.
• Support expediting efforts for criticalmaterials and project-related purchases.

Administrative Support
• Maintain procurement reports, spreadsheets, andtracking logs.
• Match purchase orders, packing slips, andinvoices for accounting purposes.
• Assist with monthly purchasing and inventoryreports.
• Support continuous improvement efforts withinprocurement and supply chain processes.

Preferred Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in Supply Chain Management,Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
• 1-3 years of purchasing, procurement, inventory,warehouse, or administrative experience preferred.
• Experience in construction, steel fabrication,industrial supply, manufacturing, or welding industries is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite,especially Excel.
• Experience with ERP, inventory, or purchasingsoftware preferred.
• Strong organizational and time managementskills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in afast-paced environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
• Understanding of purchasing and inventorycontrol principles.
• Knowledge of welding supplies, steel products,construction materials, or industrial equipment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and customer serviceskills.
• Ability to analyze pricing and compare vendorquotations.
• Problem-solving skills with the ability toresolve procurement issues quickly.
• Ability to work effectively with suppliers,field personnel, warehouse staff, and leadership.

Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extendedperiods.
• Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to inspect inventory and materialswithin warehouse and yard environments.
• Ability to work in office, warehouse,fabrication, and outdoor construction-related settings.
