Registered Nurse (RN) - Rehab and Med/Surg Float

Shift Information: Varied Shifts

Certifications/Requirements:

• Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Job Description: The primary role is within the Rehab unit, with the expectation to float to Med/Surg as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Promotes the mission and values of the organization.
• Provides professional nursing care to assigned patients and implements orders from the responsible provider.
• Documents clinical findings and care plans thoroughly each shift.
• Seeks constructive feedback on nursing practices and acts accordingly.
• Ensures continuity of care through effective communication, including bedside shift reports and multidisciplinary rounds.
• Maintains compliance with unit-specific competencies and requirements.
• Completes all required learning modules within the specified timeframe.
• Advocates for a culture of well-being and reduces alarm fatigue.
• Contributes to a positive atmosphere within the department.
• Fosters a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by adhering to established protocols.
• Identifies and addresses patient care safety issues proactively.
• Promotes a Just Culture Environment by supporting error reporting and the adoption of safe practices.
• Engages in daily safety huddles to enhance unit safety.
• Stays informed about nurse-sensitive indicators in the unit.
• Participates in quality initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes.
• Collaborates with staff across departments to leverage expertise.
• Assists team members and helps foster a collaborative work environment.
• Sets and works on performance goals based on self-assessment and feedback.
• Ensures patient education materials are culturally appropriate.
• May serve as a preceptor for new nursing staff.
• Participates in readiness for surveys and quality assessments.
• Acts within the framework of shared governance and the unit's philosophy.
• Facilitates conflict resolution and the identification of solutions.
• Delegates care responsibilities appropriately to nursing personnel.
• Assists in supervising and instructing nursing staff and students.
• Engages in the annual peer review process.

Holiday Coverage: Required

Experience Requirements: Less than 1 year of nursing experience is acceptable.

Employee Engagement: Participates in employee engagement surveys and demonstrates the core values of accountability and teamwork.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Avoids unauthorized overtime and manages time off according to policy.
• Completes dysrhythmia course prior to completing orientation in telemetry-based departments.
• Maintains current nursing licensure and certifications as required by the department.

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

• Basic Dysrhythmia knowledge preferred, or completion by the end of orientation.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred, or completion by the end of orientation.

Education and Experience:

• Current RN license in New Hampshire is required.
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program is preferred.
