Lead Staff Physician Community Medicine

Location: Vickery Health Ctr

Primary Purpose

Provides leadership and oversight for the clinical affairs of a health center(s)/program(s). In conjunction with nursing and administrative leadership ensures high quality, timely, safe, appropriate and compliant patient-centered and patient-valued services. Provides comprehensive and integrated direct care service to patients accessing the Parkland system.
Minimum Specifications

Education

Must have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an approved college of Medicine/Osteopathy
Must have successfully completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Medical Association (AMA) approved residency for appropriate specialty.

Experience

Must have three (3) years of physician experience in a clinic setting.

Certification/Registration/Licensure

Must be currently licensed for the practice of medicine in the State of Texas.
Must meet and maintain licensing and registration requirements as delineated by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and Credentialing Policies/Procedures, if any.

Skills or Special Abilitie s

Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the appropriate specialty practice (e.g. Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics) assessment techniques and treatment processes.

Must be able to determine objectives, set priorities, and establish and meet target dates.

Must be able to work effectively with other health care professionals and serve as a resource to the community.

Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behavior.

Preferred: Spanish proficiency is preferred.

Responsibilities

1.Serves as physician leader within the health center(s)/program(s). Provides direct clinical services to patients.
2.In conjunction with the nursing and administrative leadership will serve as a resource to the staff for clinical and operational issues in order to ensure high quality, timely, safe, patient-centered and patient-valued services.
3.Assists and responds efficiently and effectively with service recovery and problem resolution of concerns, incidents or complaints of internal and external customers.
4.In conjunction with nursing and administrative leadership develops, implements and monitors evidence based clinical pathways, algorithms and guidelines to ensure effective and efficient processes are in place to meet the expected goals and to ensure maximum utilization of individual and group capabilities.
5.In conjunction with nursing and administrative leadership monitors clinical metrics and implements any needed action plans and/or performance improvement projects to achieve the expected goals.
6.As appropriate, serves on committees, initiatives or projects to ensure discipline expertise and/or division representation.
7.In conjunction with nursing and administrative leadership participates in annual budgets to ensure the needed resources are available to carry out and achieve the expected goals and objectives of the service area(s) of responsibility.
8.Interviews, selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates employees. Provides discipline leadership for staff physicians and non-physician providers and ensures they receive opportunities to further their knowledge.
9.Implements and monitors evidence based clinical processes/pathways and value driven best practice guidelines to enhance quality, patient centered and patient valued services, as well as to maximize clinic/program efficiency, capacity, utilization management, and productivity in the service area(s) of responsibility.
10.Monitors and maintains high performance standards to maximize patient experience and staff satisfaction. Applies excellent leadership skills to motivate and promote provider engagement and wellness making provider retention a top priority.
11.Serves as designated leader in advancing equity and inclusion in both the organization and patient care.
12.Promotes collaboration and establishes positive working relationships with other departments, services, and community/professional partners.
13.Develops effective internal controls to promote adherence of all the above in service area(s) of responsibility. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
14.Serves as an example of professional conduct and behavior as stated in Parkland's Code of Conduct & Ethics and Parkland Colleague Behavior Expectations procedure. Works collaboratively with senior physician leadership to ensure compliance and accountability on matters related to professional standards, behavior and conduct of medical staff in service area(s) of responsibility.

Job Accountabilities

Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
