Kids Zone Lead

Job Summary We are looking for a Kid Zone Lead to supervise children, develop activities, and provide guidance. This role is on‑site, part‑time with variable scheduling during Kid Zone hours (Monday to Friday, 3:45–8:15 pm). The Kid Zone leads support child care centers, assist with events, and supervise counselors. What You'll Get From Working At The Y Membership to the YMCA of Greater Seattle Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance Retirement with generous employer contributions Free access to mental health resources Accruing paid time off (PTO) Discounts on YMCA of Greater Seattle childcare, day camp, overnight camp, and outdoor leadership programs (25 % for part‑time staff, 50 % for full‑time staff) Responsibilities Supervise a group of children to ensure their health and safety and provide a positive experience for each child Develop and implement program activities Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to Kid Zone Counselors as needed Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including medical, disciplinary, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures Professionally engage parents/guardians to provide pertinent information about their child's experience and promote upcoming programs Ensure toys and equipment are clean, safe, set up, and stored properly; report equipment problems to supervisor Attend staff meetings and training programs as required Perform other duties as assigned Physical Demands The job requires frequent standing, walking, using hands to hold or feel objects, and reaching with hands and arms. Occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds. Ability to listen, speak, and see properly is required. Qualifications 18 years of age or older with high school diploma or equivalent One year or more of experience working with children (camps, child care, tutoring, nanny, coaching) Ability to model and demonstrate Y values—caring, respect, responsibility, honesty Experience planning and implementing group activities preferred Knowledge of, and experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical activity, sexual orientation, etc.) is a plus; additional language skills helpful Other education, training, or experience that provides necessary knowledge and skills will be considered Ideal Candidate Thrives in a collaborative environment Very adaptable Strong ownership and work ethic Good problem‑solver who can think on their feet Enjoys service to people Enjoys teamwork and community building Committed to contributing to a better, stronger community Hiring Range $21.30 – $24.00 per hour, DOE.
