I'm working with a CPA firm in Saddle Brook that's been around since the 1930s. Around 30 people, approachable partners and the sort of staff retention that suggests they're doing something right.

They're looking for a Senior Tax Accountant or Tax Supervisor who enjoys working with privately held businesses, particularly commercial real estate partnerships.

You'll handle complex tax returns, multistate matters and tax planning, working directly with clients and partners.

Essentially, a chance to use your brain rather than just your ability to survive another filing deadline.

A few things worth knowing:

• Summer Fridays off. The office actually closes.

• No fall busy season. Yes, really.

• 40 hour weeks outside busy season.

• Busy season builds from around 55 hours in early February to 60, peaking around 65. No pretending otherwise.

• A stable client base of privately held businesses.

• A friendly, established team where the partners are accessible and people tend to stay.

• Plenty of variety, with opportunities to get involved in tax planning rather than just compliance.
