Assistant Principal/Athletic Director

Reports to: Principal General Summary: The Assistant Principal assumes responsibility for a variety of school-related duties, working closely with the principal in planning, implementing, and supervising programs and activities of the school. Essential Functions:

- Assists students in resolving non-academic problems so they may achieve the fullest benefits from the school's educational opportunities, programs, services, and offerings.

- Supervises and coordinates the observation and evaluation of teachers as assigned.
- Assists with master schedules, including teacher schedule time allotments, teacher duties, preparing reports reflecting teacher loads, class sizes, and room utilization.
- Works in conjunction with the principal in interpreting the school, its programs, activities, and procedures to parents and community groups, representing the school to visiting groups and individuals.
- Assists with building supervision and discipline; assists with supervision of activities.
- Oversees the coordination of student activities, field trips, lunch times, and other student programs as necessary, including but not limited to athletic activities.
- Confers with parents, teachers, counselors, support service personnel, and students on concerns of attendance, discipline, and welfare.
- Supervises the development, maintenance, and distribution of student agendas, handbooks, schedules, bulletins, etc.
- Oversees, in conjunction with the principal and head custodian, the coordination of all phases of building security, plant maintenance, and cleaning efforts.
- Assists in developing and administering practices dealing with campus control and security by staying current in school safety techniques. This includes attending School Safety Training and maintaining current certification.
- Attends Special Education Case Conferences, providing support and input for the Special Education staff.
- Able to assume the role of principal, if necessary.
- Education - Master's Degree (minimum)
- Certification or Licensure - Valid Indiana Administrative License.
- Experience - Organizational managerial experience at the executive level to assume responsibility, leadership, and supervision with students, staff, parents, and public patrons. Experience working in a public school as a teacher, administrator, or in an office of education.
- Knowledge - Understands and is up-to-date on current laws, regulations, School Board policies, and procedures governing school management at the state and federal levels.
- Performs other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintains confidentiality as defined within the policy and procedure manual.
