Underwriter I

Underwriter IEvaluates property & casualty insurance applications to determine the risk involved: decides to accept or reject the application; determines appropriate premium.A typical day will include the following:Assists in determining the acceptability, conditions and pricing of specific property & casualty insurance risks and associated coverageMaintains familiarity with the products, services, priorities and target markets in the property & casualty line of business or insurance segment.Maintains familiarity with the loss experience and business conditions of key accounts as well as loss trends and any major legal or economic factors affecting the property & casualty line of business.Communicates effectively with colleagues in underwriting and all support areas in order to meet the property & casualty insurance needs of customers.May accompany senior underwriter or marketing representative on appointments in assigned territory and industry events.May develop and maintain relationships with agency representatives.Qualifications:Two to five years of experience in underwritingAgribusiness coverage experience a plusCollege Degree or equivalent experience preferred but not requiredMust have attention-to-detail skills and possess a strong degree of organizationMust be analytical, results-oriented, and possess a strong sense of urgencyMust have good people and agency relationship building skillsEEO Statement:Tokio Marine Group of Companies (including, but not limited to the Philadelphia Insurance Companies, Tokio Marine America, Inc., TMNA Services, LLC, TM Claims Service, Inc. and First Insurance Company of Hawaii, Ltd.) is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
