Senior Technical Revenue Accountant

Job Summary

Our client, a publicly traded technology company with a market capitalization exceeding $100 billion, is seeking a Senior Technical Revenue Accountant to join its growing Revenue Accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex ASC 606 accounting matters, partner with senior business stakeholders, and support strategic initiatives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, along with a deep understanding of revenue recognition principles. This individual will work closely with Sales, Legal, FP&A, and Sales Operations teams to evaluate complex contracts, support month-end close activities, and provide technical accounting guidance on revenue-related matters.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys solving complex accounting issues, driving process improvements, and contributing to a best-in-class finance organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with Sales, Legal, FP&A, and Sales Operations teams to review non-standard contracts and assess revenue recognition implications under ASC 606
• Provide recommendations regarding contract structure and revenue treatment to support business objectives while maintaining compliance
• Support monthly and quarterly close activities, including reviewing non-routine revenue transactions, preparing journal entries, and documenting accounting conclusions
• Research, analyze, and operationalize complex and non-standard revenue accounting transactions
• Draft and maintain technical accounting memorandums and revenue position papers
• Monitor and respond to revenue-related inquiries from business partners in a timely manner
• Identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and scalability
• Participate in and lead cross-functional projects impacting revenue accounting operations
• Ensure compliance with SOX 404 controls and company accounting policies
• Support internal and external audit requests and special projects as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 4+ years of revenue accounting experience
• Strong understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance
• Experience preparing technical accounting memorandums and documenting accounting conclusions
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Big 4 public accounting experience highly preferred
• Public accounting experience with exposure to revenue recognition and technical accounting matters
• CPA or CPA candidate preferred
• Experience with SAP, Salesforce (SFDC), BigQuery, or similar ERP and reporting systems
• Experience within a technology, software, SaaS, or cybersecurity company
• Familiarity with automation tools and emerging technologies, including AI-driven productivity tools
• Experience supporting SOX compliance and external audit processes
