PART-TIME CONTRACT PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR

POSITION SUMMARY

The Principal Investigator (PI) position at Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation (GAP) serves as the medical leader for the clinical research program and is ultimately responsible for the safety and welfare of study participants and the overall conduct of clinical trials at the site.

The PI provides medical oversight throughout each study, including participant eligibility review, safety assessments, adverse event oversight, protocol compliance, and collaboration with sponsors and the clinical research team. This role ensures studies are conducted in accordance with FDA regulations, ICH-GCP guidelines, sponsor requirements, and institutional policies while maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity and participant care.

Despite being one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country, Las Vegas has limited access to Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative disease clinical research. Our goal is to change that by bringing cutting-edge therapies closer to home for patients who otherwise may have few opportunities to participate in research.

As Principal Investigator, you'll work alongside an experienced research team to provide medical leadership and oversight for industry-sponsored clinical trials. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to studies evaluating potential new treatments for Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson’s Disease with plans to continue expanding into additional areas of neurology.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide overall medical oversight for industry-sponsored clinical trials.
• Ensure the safety, rights, and well-being of all research participants.
• Review medical records and determine participant eligibility for clinical trials.
• Review laboratory results, imaging, ECGs, adverse events, concomitant medications, and other clinically relevant safety information.
• Perform or supervise protocol-required medical assessments and neurological examinations.
• Provide timely medical decision-making throughout participant participation.
• Ensure studies are conducted in accordance with FDA regulations, ICH-GCP guidelines, sponsor requirements, and study protocols.
• Personally conduct or appropriately supervise delegated study activities in accordance with FDA regulations.
• Sign Form FDA 1572 and fulfill all responsibilities required of the Principal Investigator.
• Maintain oversight of delegated study responsibilities and ensure research staff remain appropriately trained and qualified.
• Collaborate closely with the Site Director and research staff to ensure high-quality study execution.
• Meet with sponsors, CROs, monitors, auditors, and regulatory inspectors as needed.
• Review and sign study-specific documentation, including participant eligibility, laboratory reports, safety reviews, and protocol-required assessments.
• Support investigator meetings and ongoing protocol training.
• Serve as a clinical resource for the research team and provide guidance regarding participant safety and protocol-related medical questions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Active, unrestricted Nevada medical license.
• Previous experience serving as a Principal Investigator or Sub-Investigator on industry-sponsored clinical trials.
• Strong understanding of FDA regulations and ICH-GCP guidelines.
• Excellent clinical judgment with a strong commitment to participant safety.
• Ability to provide consistent medical oversight and timely review of study-related medical information.
• Strong communication and collaborative skills.
• Ability to commit approximately 10–20 hours per week with flexibility based on study activity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Board certification in Neurology or another relevant specialty.
• Experience conducting Alzheimer's disease and related dementia clinical trials.
• Experience with Parkinson's disease clinical research.
• Experience with Multiple Sclerosis clinical research.
• Experience across multiple CNS therapeutic areas.
• Interest in helping grow a high-quality neurology clinical research program in Southern Nevada.
