We combine medical expertise, mental health support, and community services to address the full spectrum of our patients' needs, empowering them to achieve their highest quality of life with dignity and respect, regardless of socioeconomic status.Job SummaryThe Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) supports clients recovering from illness, injury, or medical treatment within WPCC's Recuperative Care facility. The CNA provides compassionate, person-centered assistance with activities of daily living, personal hygiene, mobility, comfort, and basic health monitoring.The CNA works with the Medical Coordinator (LVN), Medical Coordinator Assistants (MAs), case managers, and other care team members to support client safety, recovery, independence, and well-being, using a trauma-informed, respectful, and culturally responsive approach.Key ResponsibilitiesPersonal CareAssist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and hygieneAssist with eating, drinking, and meal setupAssist with transfers, ambulation, positioning, and mobility per safety proceduresHelp with bed changes, laundry, and organizing client living areasEncourage client independence and participation in their own careMaintain client dignity, privacy, and confidentialityHealth Monitoring and Clinical SupportMonitor and report changes in client condition, behavior, appetite, and well-beingObtain and document vital signs within CNA scope of practiceObserve for symptoms requiring further assessment and report promptlyFollow infection control procedures and use PPEHelp maintain a safe environment for clients, staff, and visitorsClient Support and EngagementProvide emotional support, encouragement, and companionshipMaintain respectful, professional relationships and boundariesEncourage participation in social and recreational activitiesCommunicate effectively across language, cognitive, or behavioral barriersProvide trauma-informed, culturally responsive careDocumentation and CommunicationMaintain accurate, timely documentation in the EHRComplete shift documentation and communicate updates to the care teamReport changes in condition or behavior per procedureComplete incident reports and notify supervisors/clinical staff as neededMaintain confidentiality per organizational and privacy policiesCare CoordinationCollaborate with the care team to support continuity of careReinforce care instructions from licensed clinical staffHelp clients prepare for appointments and daily routinesReport barriers to care or changes in client needsEnvironmental Safety and Infection ControlMaintain clean, safe, sanitary client and common areasMaintain linens and hygiene/care suppliesProperly handle and dispose of biohazardous materials and sharpsReport maintenance or safety concerns to site managementStock and replenish client care suppliesRequirements & QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredCompletion of a state-approved CNA training programExperiencePrevious CNA experience preferredExperience in skilled nursing, recuperative care, assisted living, hospitals, or shelters preferredExperience with complex medical, behavioral health, or social needs a plusCertificationsCurrent CNA certification in applicable state requiredCurrent BLS certification required (or within 2 weeks of hire)Additional healthcare certifications preferred, not requiredCore CompetenciesCompassionate, respectful, person-centered approachCultural responsiveness and trauma-informed careKnowledge of basic CNA practices and ADLsAbility to recognize and report changes in client conditionStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work within a multidisciplinary teamTime management and organizational skillsBasic computer literacy and EHR documentation skillsUnderstanding of confidentiality, client rights, and boundariesCalm, professional demeanor in crisis situationsEEO/ADA StatementWPCC is an equal opportunity organization committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
