About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for Research to lead its distinguished environmental research enterprise. The successful candidate will be the chief architect of the research strategy, overseeing a diverse portfolio of scientific disciplines and a significant sponsored research activity. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong background in research, a proven track record in securing and managing research funding, and the ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration. The Vice President for Research will be responsible for shaping the Institute's scientific priorities, expanding its national and international profile, and ensuring that its work remains at the forefront of environmental discovery. Key responsibilities for the Vice President for Research include strategic research leadership, external engagement, and the cultivation of partnerships with federal and state agencies, industry, and philanthropic organizations. The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant scientific discipline, or exceptional executive leadership experience in a related field, and must be a U.S. citizen. They should be adept at balancing the demands of scientific excellence, faculty support, and institutional stewardship, and be prepared to serve as a trusted advisor and leader within the scientific community. The role demands a leader with an entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional relationship-building skills, and a commitment to the values of transparency, accountability, and shared success.
