Sourcing Specialist-Clinical

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Sourcing Specialist-Clinical. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic sourcing services on Clinical Product spend at NYU Langone Health. This position can be assigned to support any of the following clinical areas: Perioperative/Orthopedic, Percutaneous, Non-Procedural, Capital Equipment, or Med Surg. The Specialist will request, review, and execute quotes and contracts from start to finish. They will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders through both the planning and acquisition process and will report to the Sourcing Manager. Job Responsibilities Analytical Skills – Must possess the skills to interpret and analyze data both financially and qualitatively to present and interpret outcomes, explain and convey data to all end users, and identify sourcing opportunities from data. Assess Needs and Initiate Sourcing Projects – Supports Sourcing Manager in initiating and managing RFPs, based on standardization opportunities and other related value adds. Vendor Management – Optimizes vendor relationships; maintains QBR calendar to periodically review supplier effectiveness. Supplier Selection and Contracting – Conducts negotiations with suppliers on pricing; develops terms and conditions that support business requirements, including clearly defined service expectations, performance measurement practices, and shortfall remedies. Relationship Management – Acts as customer service support liaison; obtains requestor/end‑user feedback to ensure alignment and expectations consistent with departmental goals; assists departments in implementing sourcing changes, especially when moving to a new supplier. Cost Savings – Identifies, implements and quantifies strategic sourcing savings opportunities. Business Process Optimization – Seeks ways to improve business processes within (but not limited to) Supply Chain Department. Market Evaluations – Gathers and interprets market and competitive intelligence through formal and informal processes. Performs other duties as assigned. Additional Position Specific Responsibilities Minimum of two to three years Supply Chain experience, and preferably one (1) year in strategic sourcing responsibilities for various commodities, both products and services within and outside healthcare organizations. High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, etc). Some knowledge of procurement/sourcing process. Desired Skills Sets: strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and ability to work with data in Excel; organizational savvy; strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent customer service skills; ability to follow a process based on documented guidelines; Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related field. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 3+ years purchasing experience (or significant experience in purchasing functions in a highly relevant role). Strong writing and oral communication skills. Strong customer focus with a sense of urgency and high level of accountability. Preferred Qualifications Experience with purchasing systems and supply chain management technologies is preferred. Ability to analyze, suggest, and improve processes to improve total group efficiency and productivity. Salary Range The salary range for the role is $84,577.92 – $110,000.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
