Job Summary

This position is for an experienced Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse in Arcata, California. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population on a busy medical-surgical unit within an acute care setting.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, wound care, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This role requires a commitment to patient safety and high-quality care during night shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs.
• Administer medications safely and accurately, monitoring for efficacy and adverse reactions.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Perform wound care, manage drains, and assist with various medical procedures.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs, lab results, and diagnostic tests, reporting critical findings promptly.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate and thorough electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide basic and advanced life support as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Proof of negative Tuberculosis (TB) screen within 12 months of the contract start date.
