Job Description / Summary

The Med-Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care to adult and geriatric patients with diverse medical conditions, including stroke, renal failure, diabetes, pneumonia, and post-surgical recovery. The RN will monitor cardiac rhythms, administer medications, manage complex IV therapies, and coordinate care within an interdisciplinary team while adhering to MedStar Health standards and policies.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg/Telemetry RN experience

• Licensure: Active Compact or Maryland RN License (Required at submission)

• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS (Required); ACLS (Preferred)

• Charting: Proficiency in Cerner EMR (Required)

• Additional: Charge Nurse experience required; must be able to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled

• Flu Vaccine: Required – No exemptions

• Patient Ratios: 1:6

• Daily Census: 35

• Common Diagnoses: Stroke/TIA, Pneumonia, DM, ESRD, PE/DVT, Renal Failure

• Special Equipment: Telemetry monitors, IV pumps, feeding tubes, Wound Vac, bladder scanners

• Support Services: IV Team, PT/OT, Respiratory, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy, Social Work, Rapid Respons
