Staff Nurse – Cardiac Medical Stepdown Unit Exciting Staff Nurse opportunity on Ellison 10, a 36-bed adult fast-paced Cardiac Medical Stepdown Unit. Unit responsibilities and patient population: Provides intermediate level care to patients requiring cardiac monitoring for arrhythmias, unstable coronary syndromes, heart failure, and other vascular diagnoses and medical disorders. Provides care for patients undergoing coronary or peripheral procedures, diagnostic and interventional procedures requiring expert cardiac care. Provides care for patients requiring electrophysiology and arrhythmia post-procedural care. High quality, patient-focused care in a supportive care delivery model. Designated teaching floor for medical residents. 12‑hour shifts with self‑scheduling available. Opportunity to work on similar unit (Ellison 11) when staffing applies. Qualifications Current licensure as a registered nurse in Massachusetts. BSN strongly preferred. Minimum of one year experience with emphasis on cardiac patients. 2+ years of experience strongly preferred. Ability to work day/night rotation 39 hours per week; weekends required. Summary Accountable for interpreting the plan of medical care, assessing patients' clinical decision‑making regarding nursing care, assuring nursing care is provided in a safe and competent manner, providing individualized nursing care, and evaluating nursing care for groups of patients. Essential Functions Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records. Administer medications to patients and monitor for reactions or side effects. Record patients' medical information and vital signs. Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions. Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans. Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions. Education Associate’s Degree in Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Licensing and Credentials Registered Nurse MA RN license required. Experience Clinical nursing experience 0‑1 year required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Familiarity with principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment. Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided. Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information. Knowledge of medical terminology.
