About the Position

Position Details

• Specialty: Pharmacist – Inpatient

• Setting: Acute Care / Hospital Inpatient Pharmacy

• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics (may include Pediatrics depending on facility)

• Contract Type: 13 Weeks (Travel or Temp Assignment)

• Schedule: Variable shifts, weekends, and on-call as needed

Certifications & Licensure

• Required:

  • Active, unrestricted State Pharmacist License (in state of practice)

  • BLS Certification

• Preferred:

  • PharmD degree

  • Board Certification (BCPS or equivalent)

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required

• Familiarity with automated dispensing systems (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell)

• Experience with EPIC or other major EMR systems preferred

Core Responsibilities

• Review and verify physician medication orders for accuracy and appropriateness

• Prepare, compound, and dispense medications (including IV admixtures, TPN, chemotherapy, and high-risk meds)

• Monitor drug therapy, adjust dosages, and provide recommendations to medical staff

• Ensure compliance with formulary and hospital medication protocols

• Provide clinical consultations to physicians, nurses, and patients

• Supervise and guide pharmacy technicians in daily operations

• Maintain accurate records for controlled substances per DEA regulations

• Participate in multidisciplinary patient care rounds when required

• Monitor patients for adverse drug reactions and interactions

• Ensure compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations (Joint Commission, CMS, USP <797>/<800>)

Key Skills

• Strong knowledge of pharmacology, dosing, and therapeutic monitoring

• Excellent communication and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and staff

• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced hospital setting

• Knowledge of IV compounding, aseptic technique, and infection control standards
