Maintenance Electrician

Basic Job Functions Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures and housekeeping standards at all times. The role of the Maintenance Electrician is to work with the Maintenance and Production teams to maximize the safety of and to maintain and optimize the rebar fabrication processes. This position is primarily a hands‑on maintenance role; it is not a coding/development‑focused function. Hands‑on maintenance of rebar shear, bending machines, OH Cranes Generate parts lists and labor time estimates for maintenance and repairs Train key shop teammates on new equipment and/or modifications to existing equipment Maintain repair records Troubleshoot and improve both the process and equipment and develop/improve future plans Troubleshoot error codes from PLCs and HMIs (various manufacturers used, mostly European brands) Understanding both hardware and software is integral to the role and may require additional support outside normal business hours Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays as scheduled Familiarity with and adherence to Nucor Rebar Fabrication and OSHA safety standards Position is regional and will require regular travel to other NRF locations to proactively find improvement opportunities, help solve existing problems, train other team members, assist with regional maintenance and to learn/share best practices Other responsibilities may be added by the Production Supervisor or Branch Manager as needed Minimum Qualifications Process, Electrical, or Automation Engineering Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience Minimum of 2 years experience working with complex control systems including PLCs and HMIs Minimum of 2 years of experience working in industrial maintenance Demonstrated understanding of overall maintenance process and electrical principles, including: Networking tools and standards Ability to interpret electrical schematics for installation, repair, and maintaining equipment Basic pneumatic and hydraulic system knowledge Preferred Qualifications 2–3 years of experience in a reinforcing steel fabrication environment 3–5 years of experience in an industrial maintenance setting Effective written and verbal communication skills Special Demands Extended hours may be required Travel may be required (while uncommon – may include international travel for training once) Familiarity with and adherence to Nucor Rebar Fabrication and OSHA safety standards Physical Demands Heavy lifting may be necessary Working conditions may be noisy, dusty, hot, or cold Nucor is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a drug‑free workplace. #J-18808-Ljbffr
