Superintendent - Gloucester County

The D.R. Horton team is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee all aspects of home construction sites, including scheduling and supervising subcontractors, ensuring project quality, maintaining safety standards, and delivering projects on time and within budget. Responsibilities Manage the construction schedule and ensure the highest quality product is delivered on time and within budget. Schedule all involved subcontractors for each phase of construction and evaluate the quality and efficiency of their work to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal building codes and company standards. Complete each home site on schedule from planning through occupancy, ensuring all contract obligations are satisfied. Inspect and determine subcontractor workmanship and product quality, halting any work that is not satisfactory or noncompliant with plans and specifications. Authorize payment of subcontractors when all standards are met and upon thorough inspection of completed work and received materials. Manage the customer experience throughout the entire construction process, conducting homeowner orientations and walks, providing regular progress communications, and addressing concerns. Monitor community cleanliness and ensure the worksite is clean, orderly, and visually appealing during construction. Manage the post‑close warranty process, assessing warranty requests, scheduling subcontractors, and ensuring quality assurance. Follow up with homeowners to address concerns in a timely and professional manner. Maintain a current working knowledge of all applicable building codes. Work closely with sales, customer warranty, and management teams to ensure open communication and proactive issue resolution. Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Two to four years of related experience. Ability to manage and complete the "13 Milestones of Construction" specified in JDE. Must have a vehicle capable of carrying supplies, a valid driver’s license, and be willing to drive among designated communities during daytime and nighttime. Ability to read and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work, with knowledge of all phases of new home construction. General knowledge of municipal permitting, regulations, and building codes. Ability to converse with customers, all levels of management, and personnel. Superb interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction. Ability to control cost overruns and manage a budget. Ability to utilize DRH Construction applications on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written, oral form, or via DRH Construction applications. Proficiency with MS Office and email. Physical requirements: ability to stand, walk, sit, kneel, bend, climb, and lift or move up to 50 pounds, with vision and hearing requirements as specified. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, mechanical parts, high or precarious places, and risk of electrical shock. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a four‑year college. Experience working effectively in a high‑pressure, high‑production environment. Compensation Annual salary range: $70,000 – $95,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
