Position Summary The Registered Nurse works in a collaborative and cooperative relationship with other members of the health care team, plans and implements patient and family education, and is responsible for assessing the needs and initiating appropriate intervention for patients. Minimum Qualifications Current Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse) American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 4 months of hire National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification within 6 months of hire American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course certification within 1 year of hire Trauma Nursing Care Coordinator certification within 6 months of hire Competence and willingness to practice modified primary nursing Preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course certification within 1 year 1 year emergency nursing or critical care experience Essential Job Functions Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health or the situation (Assessment) Analyze the assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis) Identify expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation Develop a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes (Plan of Care) Implement the identified plan of care Employ strategies to promote health and a safe environment Systematically enhance the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice Attain knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice Evaluate one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules and regulations Interact with and contribute to the professional development of peers and colleagues Collaborate with patient, family and others in the conduct of nursing practice Integrate ethical provisions in all areas of practice Integrate research findings into practice Provide leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession Stroke Competency Comply with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines related to care for patients with hyperacute and acute stroke Participate in four hours annually of stroke education Complete 6 hours of verifiable trauma‑related education annually (State Trauma Program requirement) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrate sound judgment, patience, and maintain a professional demeanor at all times Work effectively in a busy and stressful environment Exercise creativity, problem analysis, and decision making Handle varied shifts and maintain confidentiality Exhibit self‑directedness and complete assignments accurately with minimal oversight Display strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal, and teamwork skills Schedule Requirements This role requires regular and sustained attendance. The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40‑hour workweek, including weekends and after‑hours shifts. On‑call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or employee needs. Exposures (Continuously): Bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, medications, and infectious diseases may occur. Handling cleaning products and disinfectants is common.
