Supervisor, Transit- Nights

Job Overview Supervisor, Transit – Nights (Agency) – Texas A&M University, Department Transportation Services Location: College Station, Texas. Type: Staff. Minimum Salary: $33.14 per hour. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily operations of the campus transit system, monitor routes, coordinate drivers and buses, assist customers, supervise charters, and respond to accidents during night hours (4:30pm–1:00am, Monday–Friday). Make all operational decisions and manage the transit system during the night shift. Dispatch coordination: monitor radio traffic, update daily log, coordinate staffing changes, handle driver shortages, no‑shows, etc., distribute route folders/assignments, manage closing duties, and coordinate with maintenance. Supervise all transit activities, maintain operational stability, check adherence to policies, approve time worked and leave requests, provide mobile supervision and training to new drivers. Administrative duties: document and distribute action forms, maintain day‑to‑day records, manage charter assignments, process maintenance sheets, handle phone calls, and complete all paperwork. Other duties: may be required to work Saturday home football games as needed. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent; four years in progressively responsible positions, including two years of supervisory and customer‑service experience. Valid Texas vehicle operator’s license with a good driving record; must obtain a State of Texas Class B CDL with passenger and air‑brake endorsements within 60 days of employment. Ability to work with little or no supervision; strong verbal and written communication; proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations; multitasking and time‑critical decision making; ability to handle busy phone and 2‑way radio traffic. Preferred Qualifications High‑school graduation supplemented by vocational training or associate’s degree. Prior supervisory experience with a transit agency. Valid Texas Class B driver’s license with passenger endorsement and air‑brake endorsement. Physical & Other Requirements May stand, sit, and walk up to ½mile unassisted between bus assignments. May bend, stoop, kneel, and climb stairs for bus inspections and boarding assistance. Might lift and move medium‑weight objects. Must work outdoors in various weather conditions, with potential allergens, noise, and heat exposure. Security-sensitive position. Must comply with state and federal laws, Texas A&M System policies, DOT regulations, and undergo random drug and alcohol testing.
