Title: Machine Electronic Control Technician

Reports To:

Director of Package Development

Scope:

Provide support for the development, installation, operation, troubleshooting and repairs of packaging equipment, relating to all aspects of machine controls.

Responsibilities:

• Perform all duties following organization SOPs and cGMPs in accordance with CFR 21, Part 11, 210 & 211.
• Work as team member or leader on coordination, design, fabrication and start-up of new projects.
• Assists with PLC programming support on all machine integration projects, training of in house personnel, and documentation.
• Assist with the installation, troubleshooting and replacement of electric and electronic devices.
• Train engineering staff, packaging line mechanics, machine operators and QA inspectors in functions of electrical/electronic devices and basic machine control functions.
• Develop and maintain setup sheets, maintenance programs related to inspection systems.
• Coordinate all PLC programming, setup of vision systems, data matrix and barcode scanners and related electronic equipment or field devices, including technical and validation documentation.
• Design controls and systems relating to operator interface and monitoring systems.
• Ability to learn and support new systems, e.g.: Package Serialization, Servos and Vision systems.
• Work as team member or leader on design, fabrication of new projects or assemblies and training of operators and the technical support staff on this equipment.
• Assist in creation/ review of validation documentation and related support documents such as engineering studies, equivalency statements and test documents on all packaging equipment.
• Develop and implement relevant SOPs, Change Controls, Equipment Evaluations and Engineering Studies.
• Support and interact, as required, with the Sales, Business Ops, Quality, Purchasing, as well as the Packaging, and the Technical Groups to ensure project status and goals are well communicated and expectations are understood and realized.
• Conduct or support investigations of field complaints, deviations or non-conformation events.
• Provide direct support to production and projects on all shifts as needed.
• Participate in "Off-hours" requests for assistance
• Perform all other tasks assigned.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience preferred.
• 5-8 years related experience in a packaging enviroment.
• Thorough knowledge of all packaging equipment and functions.
• Understanding of general industrial process and control systems.
• Effective problem solving skills required.
• Perform all tasks following industry standards and cGMP’s.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of the team.
• Must have a good command of the English Language, both written and verbal.
• Effective communication and problem solving skills and required.
• Proficient using technical software such as PLC, Servo, Vision, HMI, Controls and support software related to the performance of the job.
• Proficient using office environment software such as QAD, Excel, Word, Project, and software related to the performance of the job.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and transport up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to safely move around machines and equipment.
• Ability to work in a standing position for 100% of the time or to work in a sitting position for 100% of the time.
• The person in this position is required to communicate to employees in all position levels. He/she must be able to exchange accurate information in these circumstances.
• Must be able to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and gowning as required.
• Ability to tolerate fumes from heat and print processes typical in the packaging environment
