Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical-Surgical (Step Down) Job Type: Full-time | Variable schedule, 12 -hour shifts, rotating every other weekend and major holidays. Up to $20,000 sign-on bonus. Experience matters. Our 22-bed Neurology-Neurosurgery Unit cares for patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical needs, including stroke, MS, altered mental status, and post-surgical care, while also supporting a medical-surgical population. How you’ll contribute Coordinate the Patient Care Team’s delivery of personalized, efficient care respecting patients’ spiritual and cultural differences. Provide patient assessment throughout stay and participate in discharge planning, maintaining a therapeutic partnership with patient, family and caregivers. Initiate and update individualized patient plan of care (IPOC). Adhere to the 10 Rights of medication administration. Collaborate with physicians as part of the Interdisciplinary Team. Report patient status and anticipate situations that prevent or minimize adverse outcomes, promoting patient safety. Implement interventions identified in the established plan of care in collaboration with the Patient Care Team. Demonstrate annual competencies. Maintain confidentiality of all patient, hospital and employee related information. Maintain accountability and productivity for appropriate staffing following the flexible staffing plan. Attend and participate in at least six staff meetings annually; review all staff meeting minutes. Maintain proficiency in all aspects of Care Manager/AS 400/Bar Code medication administration. Participate in process improvement utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology to improve patient outcomes. Commitments to Service Excellence Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of patient rights and responsibilities. Actively participate in the development and implementation of unit-specific evidence-based initiatives to improve nurse-sensitive indicators. Attend educational sessions as directed by the nurse manager to gain knowledge about new treatment options, procedures or equipment. Timely renewal of PA State RN licensure. Complete competency for accessing and reviewing Care Board/Organizer upon orientation. Maintain display of Care Board/Organizer at workstation to capture new electronic orders. Work with Unit Clerk to confirm electronic orders for safe, timely implementation. Use TeleTracking Board to enter transfers, update comments, pending discharges, confirm discharges, update milestones and enter patient into Patient Transport for testing. What we’re looking for Current state RN license. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school. Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire. CPR certification. One year of acute care experience or comparable nursing experience. ACLS certification preferred.
