Registered Nurse Surgery PRN

Job Summary As a Registered Nurse Surgery PRN, your voice influences patient care through collaborative relationships and participation in hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You will help shape decisions that elevate patient outcomes and the future of nursing. Position Details Self/preferential scheduling posted four weeks in advance for predictability. Culture of mutual respect and collaboration among all surgical staff. Continuous investment in equipment and patient positioning for safety and efficiency. Rounding with unit leaders to ensure your voice is heard on patient care and workflow improvement. On‑call required during select non‑business hours. Responsibilities Evaluate patients prior to surgery. Provide patient and family education about the procedure and peri‑operative process. Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification. Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time‑out, debriefing, and universal protocols. Recognize and respond to patient emergencies. Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing evidence‑based practices and continuous improvement initiatives. Serve as an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team. Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking, scientific judgment, technical skills, and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care. Assess patient condition, monitor throughout shift, and document changes thoroughly. Educate patients and families/caregivers about medical condition, treatment, and follow‑up measures. Qualifications Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) obtained within 30 days. PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) obtained within 30 days. Registered Nurse (RN) license. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. No travel required. Minimum 1 year of experience.
