Manufacturing Engineer

Job Description Position Purpose: Supports plant operations through completion of engineering and maintenance projects. Design and develop processes for manufacturing needs through CNC programming; robot design and programming; electrical panel design; PLC programming; plant layouts; and equipment management. Provides support for foundry, machining, metal forming, welding, and painting departments. Supervises and provides oversight of the maintenance technicians on projects. Essential Functions:
- Responsible for the continual improvement of process and product quality.
- Assist with improving methods and reducing costs.
- Ensure that the tools and fixtures required to support our processes are available and are in good working condition.
- Manage the engineering design process, installation, PPAP, and long-term technical support of the manufacturing process while meeting quality, capability, cost and time targets.
- Introduce new parts and processes to support developing products.
- Manage various projects that support product development.
- Coordinate the installation of new production processes in the facility.
- Coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype products or system under direction of Project Engineer or Engineering Manager.
- Create mechanical and/or electrical designs for project work throughout the facility.
- Automate existing processes and lead CAPEX projects.
- Responsible for PLC programing and controls support for operations.
- Responsible for robot programming and support.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering-related field. Electrical Engineering preferred.
- 5-8+ years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in a related industry.
- 3D modeling experience in NX preferred.
- Hands-on experience in tooling, fixturing and methods is required.
- Experience in Controls or PLC programming is required.
- Formal training in robotic systems, foundry, machining, and arc welding strongly preferred.
- Production experience is preferred.
- Excellent problem solving, decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong customer focus.
- Formal training in robotics and other automated systems is preferred.
- Willing to travel to other manufacturing facilities as required.
- Constant standing, walking, reaching, balancing.
- Occasional forward bending, squatting, kneeling and climbing.
- Minimal sitting and crawling.
- Life up to 50 lbs.
- Carry up to 50 lbs. approximately 5 feet.
- Push/Pull 20-40 lbs. of force 40 feet.
- Must follow all safety practices and policies.
- Non temperature-controlled manufacturing facility.
- Work is performed in an industrial foundry setting with airborne particulates, dust, fumes, and high noise levels.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including heat-resistant clothing, face shields, gloves, steel-toe boots, and respiratory protection as necessary.
- Work environment may include hazards where there is danger to life, body, or health if procedures are not followed.
