About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: NICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00-07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of Level III experience License: RN License required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Experience with preemies (at least 28 weeks and above) Management of central lines Respiratory management up to and including intubated patients Description: The unit has a total of 108 beds with a patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:4. Staff includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Nurse Externs. The unit is equipped with Nasal Cannula, Bubble CPAP, Vents, Oscillators, IV pumps, NIRS, Warmers, and Isolettes. Documentation systems used are CPN and Meditech. Scheduling typically requires three 12-hour shifts per week, including rotating weekends and holidays. Contract staff may float to other units before regular staff. Areas for floating include PICU, Pediatrics, and CICU. The care focus includes patients aged 2 years and younger. Advanced skills needed in the unit include procedures such as central line insertions, circumcisions, exploratory laps, gastroschisis reductions, and PDA ligations. The unit has policies and guidelines in place to ensure quality care. Recognition may be given for outstanding departmental achievements. New equipment or technology may be introduced, and staff have a range of experience and tenure. Flexible scheduling options may be available.
